Evan PowersEvan Powers is a graduate of Florida State University and currently serves as the choral director at Avalon Middle School in Orlando, FL. During his time at FSU, he was also a co-founder and the first music director of Reverb, FSU’s all-male a cappella group. Prior to teaching at AMS, Mr. Powers spent the first four years of his teaching career at Fleming Island High School in Orange Park, FL where he was named “Teacher of the Year” for the 2012-2013 school year. At Avalon Middle School, Evan teaches over 300 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students across 5 choirs. He is currently on the state board for the Florida chapter of the American Choral Directors Association (Membership Chair, R&S Chair – Jazz and Show Choirs), is an ICHSA Producer for Varsity Vocals, and is in charge of Educational Outreach for the Festival Singers of Florida. He is an active adjudicator, presenter and choral clinician, conducting All-County and Men’s Day festivals across the state of Florida. He is also an active choral arranger, arranging pieces for secondary, collegiate, community and church choirs across the country and internationally.
